Folks, The PFS of SAV is thrilled and honored to announce that we have been voted BEST LOCAL FILM SERIES and Runner-Up for BEST LOCAL FILM FESTIVAL in Connect Savannah’s Annual Best Of Savannah Readers’ Poll.
This is the second year in a row that we have received both of these coveted awards, after being instrumental in The Sentient Bean being repeatedly named Best Local Indie Film Venue for many years prior.
Last year, Muse Arts Warehouse took home the Runner-Up spot for Best Indie Film Venue (behind The Bean), and this year, they nabbed top honors, with The Bean coming in as Runner-Up!
Which is to say that it seems a little Psychotronic mojo never hurt anyone. :)
These honors have come at a difficult time for the PFS, as we have recently been contemplating whether or not we’d be able to continue offering a steady stream of acclaimed, obscure and just plain “lost” films year-round. I’m happy to say that the outpouring of hometown support has convinced us to redouble our efforts.
We hope that 2012 will wind up being the biggest and most eclectic year yet of our humble little endeavor!
To that end, we are today announcing the launch of our brand-new monthly series, the ROCK 106.1FM FRIDAY NIGHT FRIGHT FEST, which finds us presenting a different just-released independent horror or thriller film from around the world for ONE-SHOW-ONLY at MIDNIGHT on the LAST FRIDAY OF EACH MONTH at Muse.
It’s your only chance to catch some of the most critically praised horror film fest favorites on the big screen, long before they are released on DVD.
That series kicks off THIS FRIDAY NIGHT, MAY 25th, with an exclusive area showing of the FREAKY Canadian sci-fi shocker THE CORRIDOR (click that link to learn more and watch the trailer).
Seating is strictly limited to 100, and begins at 11:30PM with the show starting at midnight.
Please tell all your friends who are horror fans and hopefully this will become something we can all look forward to every month!
Also, as we did last year to celebrate our Connect Award for Best Film Series, we are showing our gratitude with a FREE DOUBLE FEATURE at Muse!
Saturday, June 2, we’ll show two different films (one at 5PM and another at 8PM) and the public is invited to attend on a first-come, first-served basis.
Want to know the names of the films we’ll be showing?
Keep watching this site and our Facebook page (friended us there yet?) in the next few days for that announcement. Until then, just know that your encouragement and repeat business means a great deal to the PFS, The Bean and Muse.
Many, many thanks.
~ Jim Reed
